Ryu Hyun-jin, 36, and the Toronto Blue Jays swept a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals to improve their chances of making the postseason.

Toronto defeated Kansas City 5-2 on Monday (Nov. 11) at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Toronto was tied 0-0 through five innings before surrendering two runs in the top of the sixth.

But two batters later, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Davis Schneider drew back-to-back walks and three straight wild pitches from reliever Cole Reagans tied the game.

In the bottom of the seventh, Kevin Kiermaier put the game out of reach with a solo home run two batters later.

Toronto added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth on back-to-back RBI singles by Santiago Espinal and Caban Vizio. 온라인카지노

Toronto starter Jose Berrios pitched seven strong innings, allowing two runs on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts to improve to 10-0 on the season. Double-digit wins for the third straight year since 2021.

With the three-game sweep, Toronto improved to 80-63 and moved into second place in the American League wild-card race. The second-place Seattle Mariners’ three-game losing streak flipped the standings.

Major League Baseball awards the six district winners, plus three teams from each of the American and National Leagues with the highest winning percentages, a wild card into the postseason.

Toronto’s recent surge has helped them climb to the second wild-card spot, giving them a better chance of making the postseason. They are still one game behind third-place Seattle and 1.5 games behind the fourth-place Texas Rangers for the final wild-card spot.

Toronto begins a crucial four-game series at home against Texas on April 12. In game two, on the 13th, Hyun-jin Ryu will take the mound to face Texas ace Max Scherzer.
