‘Middle East experience’ Xabi, advice to Ronaldo “Saudi? It won’t be easy”

Barcelona coach Xabi Hernandez (43), who experienced the Middle East league as a player as well as a leader, gave serious advice to Cristiano Ronaldo (38, Al Nasr).

Xavi left Barcelona in 2015 for Al Sadd (Qatar). Xabi played in the Qatari League for the next four seasons. After his retirement in May 2019, Xabi, who started full-fledged leadership training as he ascended to the Al Sadd command tower, became Barcelona coach in November 2021.

Ronaldo was actively looking for European clubs to compete in the Champions League. But in two and a half years, he made an astronomical offer of a total of 500 million euros (about 670.9 billion won), and he chose Al Nasr. 

On the other hand, Ronaldo once made a sarcastic remark towards Xavi, who ended his Barcelona life and moved to Qatar. Ronaldo appeared on ITV’s ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ in 2015, when he was in Real Madrid, and criticized Xabi indirectly by saying, “I want to finish my career with dignity without playing in the United States, Dubai, or Qatar.”

In addition, Ronaldo said in 2016, “Xavi is just a person who wants to decorate the front page of the newspaper. He could have won many titles by playing in a good team, but he has no Ballon d’Or.” He has won several Ballon d’Ors and is the most popular sports player in the world.”
