Munich coach: “Kim Min-jae is reliable, humble and sincere…similar to Park Joo-ho and Koo Ja-cheol”
Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel has expressed his satisfaction with the performance of new signing Kim Min-jae on and off the field.
“I love Kim Min-jae, his expression, his attitude, his behavior on the field is very calm and straightforward,” Tuchel said in an interview with the Bundesliga secretariat on Sunday (July 17). “I’ve coached Korean players (Park Joo-ho and Koo Ja-cheol) and he’s exactly the same as them. He’s humble, sincere and kind. He’s making a very good impression.”
Tuchel took over the reins at Bayern Munich midway through last season and was keen to bring in Kim Min-jae to revamp the defense. Tuchel and the Bavarians went to great lengths to win over Kim, including a direct video call with the player’s agent, and eventually succeeded in landing the Italian Serie A Defender of the Year.
“He had an amazing season at Napoli,” Tuchel told German outlet Rahn, “He’s tall, fast and very reliable. He played full-time in the Italian league. I am happy that we were able to sign a player of the highest level.”
He also welcomed Kim with a big smile and a hug on his first day at the training center, saying, “I’m really happy to meet you.”
Tuchel, who has been coaching Kim for about a month, is very pleased with his performance.
“He’s very brave when he’s defending, he makes quick decisions, and he works well with his teammates. He is always aware of where he needs to help,” Tuchel said, adding, “He is a defender who can digest both the left and right side of the center back line.” 메이저사이트
He also gave him a pass on the offensive side of the ball. “His passing helps the team build up quite a bit,” Tuchel said. His passes are neither slow nor fast, and he connects to his teammates appropriately,” Tuchel said, explaining that Kim’s passes are a big boost for the team in the offense.
Kim made his first official appearance for Bayern Munich on March 13, when he came on as a second-half substitute in the German Super Cup against RB Leipzig. He will make his Bundesliga debut on Sept. 19 against Werder Bremen.
