Oh Hyun-kyu is about to move to Celtic… British media “Transfer agreement with Suwon for 3.8 billion won”
National striker Oh Hyeon-gyu (22, Suwon) is imminent to advance to Europe.
British Sky Sports reported on the 23rd (Korean time), “Celtic (Scotland) has agreed to sign Oh Hyun-gyu from Suwon for a transfer fee of 2.5 million pounds (approximately 3.8 billion won).”
The media added, “Oh Hyun-kyu verbally agreed to personal terms,” adding, “It is expected that the transfer will be finalized within the next few days.”
Celtic, a prestigious Scottish team, sent an intention to recruit Oh Hyun-kyu before the opening of the World Cup in Qatar last year.
Oh Hyun-kyu, who signed a semi-professional contract with Suwon in 2019 while attending Maetango High School, debuted in the K-League the same year and played 11 games. In the 2020-21 season, he played for Sangmu and also solved the military service issue.
Oh Hyun-gyu scored 13 goals (three assists), the most in the team, 먹튀검증 in 36 K-League 1 games last year, his first season after being discharged. He also led Suwon to remain in the first division by scoring the winning goal in the second leg of the promotion playoff against FC Anyang.
He was selected as a reserve member for the Qatar World Cup and trained with the national team in Qatar.
Meanwhile, Celtic has also shown interest in signing Cho Kyu-seong (Jeonbuk), who scored two goals in the World Cup, but negotiations are said to have stopped.
Sky Sports said, “Celtic also offered to recruit Cho Kyu-sung, but negotiations have been suspended as Cho Kyu-sung weighed the detailed conditions.”
