Words of advice from ‘Grandpa Cha Bum-geun’ to the future soccer players in Korea…”I hope you become a desirable player”
“Rather than players who are only good at soccer, players with deep thoughts are loved for a long time.”
These are the words of advice given by ‘Grandpa Cha Bum-geun’ to the prospective players who will lead the future of Korean football.
The 35th Cha Bum-Kun Football Award Ceremony was held at HW Convention Center in Jongno-gu, Seoul at 11 am on the 2nd. On this day, a total of 19 people received awards, including 16 strikers, midfielders, defenders, and goalkeepers, two female youth players, and coach Han Chul, who received the Leadership Award.
Established in 1988, the Cha Bum-geun Soccer Award is a youth soccer award that discovers and awards dream trees every year. Hwang Hee-chan (21 times), Baek Seung-ho (22 times), and Lee Seung-woo (23 times) tasted the joy of winning the award and grew into the center of Korean football.
After the award ceremony, Chairman Cha Bum-geun (70) said, “These are the winners of the 35th Cha Bum-geun Football Award. I sincerely congratulate you. 스포츠토토 This grandfather is very happy to be able to give this award to the future players of Korean football for 35 years.”
Chairman Cha Beom-geun said, “I was an old man when I was giving the award to your idol, Park Ji-sung, but now I am Cha Bum-geun’s grandfather. I am 70 years old. It’s not a short time. I drove about 6 hours to the awards ceremony. I thought a lot. I’m proud of it, too.” I was also thrilled,” he said.
Chairman Cha continued, “For the past 35 years, Korean soccer has been slow, but it has continued to develop. After the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland, we succeeded in advancing to the finals by passing the regional qualifiers for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. Even then, being together at the World Cup was a dream and a dream. It was the same thing. In 2002, we hosted the World Cup in our country and miraculously made it to the semifinals. Such a happy moment doesn’t come often.”
He said, “I succeeded in advancing to the round of 16 at the World Cup in South Africa and Qatar. It was something I could not have imagined when I was a player. Like this, my juniors brought Korean football forward little by little. I am always grateful and proud.”
